Drug scripts are the single most-played piece of content on most RP servers. They are also the easiest to break the economy with.
Why economy balance matters
If drugs pay 5x what legitimate jobs pay, every player will eventually run drugs. That collapses the diversity of RP scenes. The fix isn't removing drugs — it is balancing the math.
The risk-reward axis
Good drug systems have real risk: cooldowns on selling spots, police visibility, NPC reactions, and a chance of getting robbed by other players. Without these, drugs become a button-mash for free money.
Pricing tiers
Low-tier (weed): easy to grow, low payoff, low risk. Mid-tier (meth, coke): real production chain, mid payoff, real police interest. Top-tier (heroin, fent): expensive precursors, high payoff, very high police priority. Players self-select into the tier that matches their playstyle.
Selling mechanics
Good scripts include: rotating sell points (so cops can't camp one), reputation systems (better prices the more you sell to a vendor), risk-of-robbery during transactions, and a hard daily cap so the most efficient grinder isn't crashing the economy.
Anti-exploit
Server-side validation on every sale. Cooldowns enforced server-side. Quantity limits. The single biggest economy-collapse on RP servers is a drug script that lets clients tell the server how much they sold.
Wrapping up
A well-balanced drug system pays slightly more than a hard legitimate job and slightly less than a top legal career. That ratio creates real choice for players. Get the math right and your server's economy stabilizes.
